Still Life Painting – Techniques
This course is designed to provide you with the skills needed to create beautiful still life paintings. During the day we will look at using traditional glazing techniques to build depth within a still life arrangement as well as more contemporary ideas which can be incorporated into your paintings. The still life painting course is taught through a practical day of oil painting, with demonstrations and tuition. The course will include:
- An introduction to still life painting and the materials that we will be using during the day
- Painting a traditional picture using a grisaille and glaze method with a demonstration to illustrate the technique being used
- Painting a contemporary picture using a colour beginning with a demonstration to illustrate the technique being used
- A review of the days paintings and notes to take away
The course will have no more than 8 pupils to ensure plenty of time for one to one tuition and all materials are included in the price. Tea and coffee are provided as is a simple lunch (e.g. soup and a roll) or you are welcome to bring your own food. If you are new to oil painting we suggest that you will gain more from this course if you have participated in our ‘Introduction to oil painting’ day which will provide you with some of the techniques we explore further as we paint still life pictures.
