Oil Painting Courses
Whether you are beginning your journey as an oil painter or would like to learn new techniques we have a number of different courses which we hope will be of interest. All of our courses are taught in small groups and involve a mix of demonstrations and practical painting exercises designed to make you a better artist.
Demonstrations
If you are an art group or society looking to book an artist for a demonstration we would be delighted to talk to you. Paul can tailor a demonstration in oil painting to meet the needs of your members and the time available for your group.
We would also be pleased to discuss arranging workshops for your group, whether they be as a follow up to a demonstration or separately.
Paul Oakley
Pewsey Vale Studio is run by Wiltshire artist Paul Oakley. Mainly self taught, Paul has developed his skills as an oil painter through attending Norfolk Painting School and, as well as exhibiting, enjoys sharing what he has learnt and continues to learn through running courses and giving demonstrations. All of the courses listed on this website will be taught by Paul and all of the pictures shown are either originals or studies painted by him.
Pewsey Vale Studio
Our painting courses are held in All Cannings (between Devizes and Pewsey) within the Village Hall or the Pavilion Studio within the former village cricket pavilion. The hall is a comfortable, well lit space which offers an ideal environment for the small group classes which we run. The Pavilion Studio is a simpler building but equally suited to learning to paint and benefits from beautiful views along the Pewsey Vale which provide perfect opportunities for painting.

If you know someone who you think would enjoy an oil painting course we sell vouchers for the cost of a day course (currently £70)
Vouchers are valid for one year from purchase and can be used to book onto any course run at the Pewsey Vale Studio, although we recommend that for artists new to oil painting that the Introduction to Oil Painting course would be most useful.
